Democracy light β with Musk flavor
Elon Musk, the man who declared Twitter a bastion of free speech and then suspended accounts he didn't like, has a new mission: saving democracy. At least the kind he likes. In a tweet, he proclaimed that elected leaders must implement the will of the people β or it's not democracy.
A look at Musk's definition of "people" reveals: He probably means those who share his opinion. Critics? Missing. Opposition? Unnecessary. It's the democracy of the strongest tweet.
Experts point out that Musk's understanding of democracy strongly resembles his vision of Twitter: many voices, but only one counts. His. Whether that's still considered representative is questionable. But who's asking the man who sends rockets to Mars?
